Hello and welcome!

Finding the right therapist for you is such an important first step. No therapist is “one size – fits all.” Research shows that, although a therapist’s background matters, what matters most is whether that therapist is a truly good fit for you. The information here can help you make an informed decision about your mental health care.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 14+ years of experience.  I am also a wife of 37 years, married to my favorite person ever; we have two adult children. My husband and I moved to Stillwater after our nest emptied in 2015 and have developed strong roots in this community.

Whether you are seeking help as an individual or as a couple, I use a client-focused, collaborative style. This helps you clearly identify the specific problems you want to address and establish your goals for therapy. Early in my career I trained in both Cognitive Behavior Therapy and the basics of Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  I use these approaches along with techniques from other evidence-based therapies. I can help clients successfully manage depression, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges and adjustments to major life changes.

I also have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. This is the gold standard for couples’ therapy today.  And, as a certified facilitator for Prepare/Enrich, I love working with premarital couples. My goal is to help them effectively address issues that could impact their marriage before they begin their lives together.

As a Christian, I offer a faith-based counseling experience for those who want spiritual guidance alongside therapy. For clients who do not want this approach, I work to address their needs and goals in a manner suited to them.

To help you determine whether I am the right therapist for you, I’d be happy to meet in person. You are welcome to contact me and request a free 45-minute consultation. If I am not the best fit for you, I can refer you to other professionals in our area.

Wishing you well,

Elizabeth
